RECLAIM THE NIGHT 2018

Reclaim The Night is an internationally held march and rally intended as a protest and direct action against the epidemic of gender based based violence.

On the 7th of December 2018, Forth Valley Rape Crisis are inviting you to march with us to raise awareness of the extent of male violence against women, support those affected and to say enough is enough.

  • 1 in 3 women will experience sexual abuse of some kind in their lifetime.

  • The World Health Organisation (WHO) estimates that 20% of girls have experienced childhood sexual abuse

  • In Britain, around 1.2 million women suffer domestic violence a year, 400,000 are sexually assaulted, and 85,000 are raped

  • 1 in 10 women in Scotland have experienced rape and figures for sexual crimes in Scotland continue to rise.

We march to demand justice, we march against all forms of gender based violence and for a womans right to walk the streets without fear. Show your support and march with us this December 7th 2018.

Falkirk Waiting List

The management team and Board of Directors of Forth Valley Rape Crisis Centre deeply regret to announce that we have no choice other than to decide to close our waiting list to survivors from the Falkirk area. This is because we are still trying to reach a funding agreement with Falkirk Council and because of overwhelming and increasing demand on our team and the service they are able to provide. This decision will take effect immediately and we will review this decision in 3 months.

Since FVRCC opened its doors in 2016, our staff and volunteers have been dedicated to providing support, advocacy, and education for those in need and for the wider community. We are extremely proud to be such an innovative and unique service in the Rape Crisis network. However, as is all too common in the third sector in particular, our staff and volunteers are exposed to high levels of stress and pressure, and this has become unsustainable at present. Our team need to be able to work effectively and to maintain a work life balance - unfortunately that has not been possible recently, and we cannot expect them to continue in this way.

We will continue to work with those Falkirk-based survivors we are already supporting. Anyone from Falkirk who is/was already on our waiting list, will remain on our list, will receive regular check-ins from us and an estimate of when they will receive support.

We are incredibly saddened by this outcome, and are continuing to discuss our funding position with Falkirk Council whilst also trying to support our fantastic staff and volunteers. This is particularly important to following our campaigning to end waiting lists: https://www.forthvalleyrapecrisis.org.uk/blog/'
