About us

What we do

We provide free and confidential information, advocacy and support to anyone 13 and over in the Forth Valley area (Clackmannanshire, Falkirk and Stirling) affected by sexual violence.

This includes survivors of sexual violence and their friends and families. We also provide advice, support and training to staff in other agencies who are working with survivors so they can provide a good response to survivors of sexual violence.

We aim to be inclusive and welcoming to all, regardless of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership status, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, gender identity, intersex status or sexual orientation.

Our values

We are proud to call ourselves a feminist organisation and feminism underpins all of the work we do.

Our centre is women-led and we recognise that rape and sexual abuse are gendered crimes with the majority of survivors of sexual violence being women and children and the majority of perpetrators being men. We acknowledge this power imbalance and recognise that sexual violence is one aspect of gender inequality that women face within our society. You can find out more about us in our Statement of Values.

As feminists we believe that survivors of all genders deserve access to support, and therefore the services we offer to male survivors are an important aspect of our work.

We see the impact of sexual violence as no less devastating on the lives of men and boys and our aim is to offer a safe space to people of all genders, whilst holding on to our values and feminist principles which has been at the heart of the rape crisis movement in Scotland for the past 40 years.

We believe that no-one, regardless of behaviour, dress or lifestyle, is to blame for the sexual violence they experience.

We believe that sexual violence should not be condoned or tolerated.

How we’re run

We are a charity run by a voluntary board of directors who live or work in the area.

We have a mix of paid staff and volunteers. We are funded by the Scottish Government and Clackmannanshire, Falkirk and Stirling Councils, and by various trusts and foundations. We also rely on donations.

We are a member of Rape Crisis Scotland (RCS) and the network of local rape crisis centres across Scotland. We comply with the service standards for RCS member centres.

All rape crisis centres and the RCS Helpline are staffed by fully-trained paid and unpaid women workers.

We are a member of the Stirling, and the Falkirk and Clackmannanshire Gender-Based Violence Partnerships.
