  • Prevalence
  • The law
  • Dealing with disclosures
  • The work of Rape Crisis Centres
  • Rape trauma syndrome and post-traumatic stress disorder

Learning outcomes:

By the end of the course participants will be able to:

  • Recognise some of the common myths and stereotypes surrounding rape & sexual abuse
  • Describe the work of Rape Crisis Centres and their services
  • Describe the laws relating to rape and other sexual offences
  • Identify good practice in dealing with disclosures
  • Recognise some of the features of rape trauma syndrome and post-traumatic stress disorder

Anyone wanted to have a clearer understanding of sexual violence, including:

  • Domestic abuse workers
  • Housing officers
  • Teachers
  • Education welfare officers
  • Police officers
  • Health and social care workers
