What to expect from our support service

Coping with sexual violence can be overwhelming. You do not have to cope alone. Whatever you feel at this time or whatever happened, you are not to blame. We will not judge you. We will listen to you, believe you and treat you with respect. We can support anyone (aged 13+) who has experienced any form of sexual violence whether this was recently or a long time ago, as an adult or as a child.

We know that everyone is different and therefore we will do our best to support you in a way that is helpful to you.

You can get in touch with us yourself, or you can ask someone else to do that for you. If someone else contacts us for you, we will check with them that you agreed to this and we then will check again with you when we get in touch with you. We will contact you in the way and at the times which are best for you.

Support Process

When we speak with you we will offer you an initial appointment at our centre with one of our support workers. During this appointment we will give you information about our services and help you decide how we can best support you. You will not be expected to answer questions about your experience and you can choose to tell us as much as you feel comfortable with.

If you decide that our service is the right one for you, you will be added to our waiting list, our support workers will be able to give you more information about our waiting times during this initial appointment. Whilst you are on our waiting list we can arrange to check in with you via telephone, text or email.

When you come to the top of our waiting list the first available worker will contact you to arrange weekly sessions. We offer between 10 and 20 sessions. Whilst we aim to be as flexible as possible our service currently operates Monday- Friday 9-5pm, with our last appointment at 4pm.

All our staff are women and are fully trained to support anyone affected by sexual violence.

Not everyone wants to access face to face support, if you feel you would benefit from email or telephone support please contact us to discuss your options.

We also can offer advocacy support for people who have reported or who are considering reporting to the police.

Please contact us on 01786 439244 or support@forthvalleyrapecrisis.org.uk if you would some more information about our support service or you would like to book an initial appointment.
